2018 INFINITI Q50

INFINITI is a luxury brand that has managed to capture a niche market of drivers because of its incredible value over time. Instead of losing its luster along the way, INFINITI vehicles actually get more appealing to their owners over time — a feat that isn’t so easy to achieve. Essentially, INFINITI wants to improve, but they don’t want to fix something that isn’t broken. The 2018 INFINITI Q50 may not be wildly different from its predecessor, but it manages to score a few extra points in the most important areas for drivers today.

Styling to Notice

INFINITI has a long-term goal to ensure that passengers and drivers alike can distinguish their vehicles from their competitors with just a single glance. As such, the Q50 has eye-shaped headlights and new taillight graphics for a more visually dramatic effect. The air intakes and the grille sides have also been revamped to showcase the LED accent lighting. There’s also a corner splitter to give the car more cool (and more traction during tight turns.) The INFINITI Q50 is essentially walking a fine line when it comes to their design. They want to modify this car to be more striking, but not so much that it looks like a caricature. They manage to hit that balance quite nicely with the new Q50.

In addition to tweaking the styling of the base model, INFINITI has paid more attention to the visual features that distinguish the different trim levels. Few drivers want to upgrade to a more expensive model if their car looks exactly the same as the base model. The sports models will feature a wider bumper with lower air intakes and a two-tone rear diffuser that integrates perfectly next to the dual exhaust. The leather, signature stitching, and chrome trim has also been reconfigured for a more flashy interior. The higher up the chain you go, the more aggressive the styling will look.

Interior Differences

INFINITI wants the potential buyer to remember their test drive with an INFINITI, so they’ve done a lot to improve the first impression. Wind and road noise are practically non-existent, while the shifting and steering feel as though they’re controlled by magic. These improvements were possible after INFINITI made adjustments to the internal software in the car. The interior will also include new spinal support seats which go the extra mile for both the upper and lower back.

Performance

The actual powertrains of the 2018 Q50 are the same, though there will be an introduction of a Direct Response Hybrid powertrain option. This Q50 will seemingly do the impossible — deliver incredible power in a hybrid. At 360 horsepower and up to 36 miles to the gallon, you have a car that’s ready to fly. Finally, all of the technology for this car will be ProPILOT for the first time, which is INFINITI’s brand of autonomous features. The Q50 is available with forward and backup collision warnings, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.
