INFINITI Q50 Hybrid

Performance and efficiency. Powerful and ecological. Those may not be terms that you’re accustomed to hearing in the same sentences – unless you’ve been talking about INFINITI. INFINITI never settles for commonplace or status quo and the INFINITI hybrid models are no exception. The INFINITI Q50 Hybrid and Q70 Hybrid deliver performance that’s comparable to all in their class – and head and shoulders above most. Since the 2014 model year, both models manage to deliver a superior driving experience that packs plenty of punch while sipping fuel.

The Numbers Don’t Lie

The INFINITI Q50 and INFINITI Q70 Hybrid models each crank out 360 horses, making them the most powerful hybrids in their segment – and they do it while providing 36 highway MPG for the Q50 and a still impressive 34 highway MPG for the Q70. The Q50 will go from 0-to-60 in under 4.9 seconds. The acceleration is smooth and powerful – not a description you’ll hear for most hybrids.

Direct Response Takes Hybrids to the Next Level

The Direct Response Hybrid System in the INFINITI Q50 and Q70 makes use of a two-clutch/one motor system with their 3.5 liter 24-valve Dual-Overhead Cam V6 engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. The system detects which power source – or combination of power sources – is ideal for your current driving conditions and uses those, delivering both power and optimum efficiency. Hit the accelerator and you get the power of the gasoline engine. Hit cruising speed and drive in electric-only or gas/electric. Power when you need it, excellent fuel economy always. And when you need maximum power, the Direct Response Hybrid System can bring the power of both to bear. Electric power is provided by INFINITI’s 1.3 liter lithium-ion battery.

Making Waves in the Performance Hybrid Category

Hybrid performance cars are admittedly a relatively new category in the market, and INFINITI is setting the bar high, drawing favorable comparisons to the Porsche hybrid and the Lexus GS450h hybrid. That’s good company to be in and, frankly, the Q50 and Q70 both have better acceleration than either of those models – and at a much lower sticker price.

Hybrid Technology Crosses Over

Performance cars aren’t the only category typically thought of as gas guzzlers. SUVs and crossovers aren’t generally considered fuel sippers, either. The INFINITI QX60 Hybrid is poised to change that perception. With power and torque comparable to its non-hybrid cousin in the INFINITI line, the QX60 Hybrid is a full-sized crossover that provides 26 MPG (combined) in all wheel or front wheel drive.

The QX60’s supercharged 2.5L inline 4-cylinder engine is combined with a 15 kW lithium-ion battery and an electric motor. As with the performance hybrids, the Direct Response Hybrid System determines which power source is ideal for your driving conditions, providing power when you need it – 250 horsepower — while optimizing your fuel economy.

As If You Needed More Reasons to Check out the INFINITI Hybrid Models

There are plenty of reasons to consider a hybrid model, especially with INFINITI’s current models bringing performance up to the level of their non-hybrid equivalents. You’ll find yourself passing by the gas station a lot more often and taking a much lighter hit on your overall fuel costs. Just as importantly, you’ll be significantly reducing your carbon footprint and using less of the limited supply of fossil fuels while reducing emissions.

Of course, you probably had those things in mind when you first started considering a hybrid. Now, you can add high performance, power and an exciting driving experience to your list of reasons to look into a hybrid model – and those are as good of reasons as any to look into an online car buying site to unload your old car and get an INFINITI Q50, Q70 or QX60 hybrid model instead.
